ccd8HA4We here at Wedding Bros have seen our share of epic proposals dreamed up by our creative grooms. And by creative we mean they actually log on to Pinterest and stole borrow some awesome ideas.Check out this awesome proposal by Reddit user PPaul 9. He wrote a story about a Gorilla proposing to a giraffe (we are asking the same questions), and had the whole thing illustrated and made into a children’s book by the talented Yoni Limor.  With the help of Laura Ingram Photography he surprised his girlfriend with the shock of her life. He hid the book on the shelves, and made sure his girlfriend stumble upon the book. And this is what she saw;

 There once was a gorilla That fell for a giraffe. She surprised him by how much She could make him laugh. The two, you see, Were from different worlds Their first date, so nervous, He’d certainly hurl.In spite of their differences, It was love at first sight. His feelings grew quickly, His heart took to flight.The gorilla, his life, Unpolished and scattered Now refined and focused On those things that matter.There were simply no words For how lucky he’d gotten. Without her by his side Life would surely be rotten.It’s hard to believe Just how happy they were. He could not imagine Even one day without her.So he got on one knee And uttered the plea: “My dearest giraffe, Will you marry me?”He felt his heart beating Right out of his chest. He could do nothing but wait And hope she’d say YES. When she finally answered He could not stop grinning Because he knew, in his heart, This was just The Beginning!

Okay, just get it out of your system now. AWWWWWWWWW.  Then we can now go slap the guy for making the rest of us look bad in front of our girls! So, if you want to also pull off an epic proposal, here are 3 things to keep in mind;

1. BE MEMORABLE
Think back to where you guys first met. First date location? First time you guys kissed? You DO remember when you guys first kissed, right? You can pull inspiration from where you met, your favorite coffee shop, favorite restaurant. The idea is to tailor it towards your fiance and the memories you guys shared together. This will make the proposal even more personal!

2. BE CREATIVE
Be unexpected! Take out a full page ad in a local newspaper, hire a skywriter airplane to spell out “WILL YOU MARRY ME?”,  record a personal message and put it on her MP3 player. Here are some awesome examples from The Knot;

  • Have a flair for the dramatic? Get in touch with the stage manager of an appropriately themed production and propose after the cast’s curtain call.
  • Gather a bunch of your friends and family for a party. Have everyone in attendance put on a T-shirt bearing one of the letters in the phrase “Will you marry me?” When you walk into the room with your girlfriend, suggest a group picture and let the shirts speak for themselves.
  • Make the box holding her ring a selection on the dessert tray at your favorite restaurant.
  • Get a ring size chart and ask your girlfriend to look up her size. When she accuses you of ruining the surprise that you’re shopping for a ring, say, “Okay, try this one instead,” and show her that you’ve already shopped for a ring.

3. BE EPIC
Dream BIG. If you do it right, you are only going to propose once in your life, so make it count. Enlist the help of all your friends & family, and plan the surprise of her life. Check out this absolutely epic proposal shot by our friends at Brett & Tori Photographers.  Daniel enlisted the help with all his friends & family and pulled off a surprise proposal at the beach!
