We love this classy engagement session from Pasadena City Hall! Beautifully captured by Alyssa Marie Photography based out of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Beth & David met when she was a senior and he was a junior (total cougar). It was love at first sight since Beth told him “You’re really hot, and you’re going to be my husband.” Yes, the first time they met (what did I say about a cougar?). They dated for 6 years before David popped the question. Here’s his proposal, from Beth;
To say that the proposal was a complete surprise is an understatement. First, some background information. David has been (fake) asking me to marry him for years. He enjoyed saying the words “will you marry me?” and would pretend to be surprised when my answer was “nope.” He also enjoyed playing the game: I’m going to get down on one knee in public and then decide to tie my shoe. These became regular occurrences in our relationship and we deemed them both quite hilarious. The day of the proposal happened to be the day after my 24th birthday. We had dinner plans with two other couples in Laguna Beach. As we drove to the restaurant to meet our friends, I got a frantic phone call. One of our friends was having car trouble and were going to be late. Our other friends were stuck in traffic and were also running behind. ‘Not a problem,’ I thought. We had plenty of time to spare. As we drove along Pacific Coast Highway, David had the great idea of pulling over to take a picture. Seeing as how I needed a new Facebook profile picture, I agreed. David insisted on walking down a dirt trail to get a better photo. I was wearing heels and complained about the walk the entire way down. (I should warn you that I am not the hero of this story!) When we got down the hill, David tried to plant a smooch. Welp, I had just put on lip-gloss and I didn’t want to mess it up, so I refused. (I warned you!) If I had known that this was going to be the most romantic moment of my life, I would have acted differently. However, I was not expecting to become an engaged woman anytime soon. David began giving a romantic speech and proceeded to go down on one knee. My first thought was, “How dare he play the fake shoe-tying game right now!” And as he pulled out a little brown box, by stomach dropped and time stood still. He opened that little brown box to reveal the most beautiful ring I had ever seen. Looking back, I wish I had chosen more eloquent words for this moment, but nevertheless, the only thing that came out of my mouth was (pardon my language) “Holy $hit!”
After I finally remembered how to say the word “yes!” David swooped me off my feet and I forgot all about the integrity of my lip-gloss.
Congratulations on your engagement from all of us here at Wedding Bros!
